Dr. Klaus Berndsen is co-owner and Scientific Director of the Institute for Special Systemic Therapy (ISST) – International Center for Rehabilitation and the Dr. Berndsen GmbH Medizintechnik company in Unna, Germany.

Dr. Klaus Berndsen studied at the University of Bonn, Cologne and Dortmund Physics, Patholinguistics and Rehabilitation Science. At the University of Dortmund, he instructed Teaching and Research in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Science.

After completing countless study visits to universities as well as clinics and scientific institutes in the USA, Spain and South America together with his wife Sabine Berndsen, he began focusing on the newest research in the areas of Rehabilitation Science, brain research and functional muscle function therapy. Concomitantly, he directed the International Project for Therapy and Technology Research for disabled and non-disabled individuals, treating patients in different countries of the world.

During his work as full-time instructor at the University of Dortmund, he was awarded his professorship in Rehabilitation Science with the study “Medienhandeln und Kommunikationslernen” (Book title in German). The work comprised the results of a clinical science study about the influences of active dealings with media on the development of communication behaviors of disabled youth.

Dr. Klaus Berndsen is author and co-author of book publications and countless scientific articles in text books and professional journals not to mention a speaker at national and international congresses. He is an organizer and colleague in medical multidisciplinary work groups and an instructor at several universities. At the University of Frankfurt a.M., he teaches the theory and clinical practice of neurofunctional methods of therapy in the Department of Dentistry and Orthodontics. Regarding this complex subject matter, he supervises multiple research projects.

Treatment methods, patents and innovative developments researched, developed and manufactured by Dr. Klaus and Sabine are accepted and used worldwide. The results of their work are presented often in the public media. Because of their differing technical contributions to medicine, they are invited as experts to work groups and television programs.
